Christopher Schultz was arrested on Jul 12th, 2024 and charged with second-degree murder and child abuse, according to the Marana Police Department. Crime charges have been upgraded against an Arizona father, 37 year-old Christopher Schultz on August 12th, 2024. He faces felony first degree murder and felony child abuse in the death of his little daughter, Parker. He was accused of leaving his 2 year – old daughter in a hot car for hours before she died. He told police that he left the girl sleeping in the back seat with the air conditioning on. A young girl died on July 9th, 2024.

Why have charges been upgraded? What suggests it was intentional?

There are several factors that led to the charge brought up to a murder. It was July in Arizona, so it was 109 degrees Fahrenheit (i.e. 42 degrees Celsius) outside. Christopher Schultz knew if he leaves the motor running, the car will shut off automatically in 30 minutes, police said. Over 3 hours he sat inside playing video games and never went outside to check on Parker. Child’s mother came home about 04:00 p.m. and asked where the 2 year-old was, the report says. Schultz searched through the house, then remember the girl was still in the car by that time she was already dead. Child’s mother who is a medical doctor, tried to revive the child but could not. Police say as an ambulance rushed the child to a hospital the mother texted Christopher Schultz:

  • I told you to stop leaving them in the car. How many times have I told you?
  • Baby, I’m sorry.
  • We’ve lost her, she was perfect.
  • How could I do this? I killed our baby! This can’t be real.

He had done it before.

His defense will most likely use Forgotten Baby Syndrome (FBS) and that he expressed remorse in his message.

He had neglected his children all the time and probably is addicted to video games.
